The Building Pros of Eastern Iowa is a new industry alliance representing over 15,000 people who work for union signatory contractors, skilled trade union craftsmen and women, material suppliers and sub-contractors.

Informatics worked with representatives of the group to design and develop a multilayered website, www.builtbypros.com, to serve as the primary education and communication tool for the organization. The site was launched in March 2011.

The website’s homepage contains an informative flash animation that displays the group’s slogan “Living here, working here, building here” with relevant imagery dynamically displayed beside it. The homepage also includes a “What’s New” section that displays recent news and is powered by a content management system. The CMS allows The Building Pros to update and maintain content throughout the website.

The site presents many avenues for prospective visitors to find information. The header contains an ever-present search feature that delivers a list of links related to the keywords entered. The main navigation menu represents the group’s focal areas and includes dropdown menus for quick access to interior pages. Additionally, the homepage contains graphical links to high traffic pages. Spot-bolding, secondary page navigation, hierarchal headers, and in content links further adds to the sites usability.
