Informatics Named Best Web Site Developer for 5th Straight Year

July 27, 2010
It’s a right-brain, left-brain process.

Having experts in technology and design has created the successful combination for Informatics that has landed it on the best-of list for the past five years. The web site development company at 118 Second St. SE in Cedar Rapids counts on that range of skills to win and keep clients.

“I think what we bring to the table is we have a very diverse team approach to creating web sites. We find it to be a very right brain-left brain process,” said Maureen Osako, a partner with Informatics. “It’s very creative and it’s also very analytical and technical, so we have a team that reflects those types of skills and experience. When you work collaboratively as a company I think it just comes out as good as it can be because you have the technical guy looking at it, testing it, but you also have the creative and the marketing component of it as well, so those things work really well together.”

When the company started in 1998, few would have guessed social media and other Internet trends would have so quickly become prominent. But as the rapidly changing Internet evolves, Informatics stays atop of those innovations.

“We’re in a knowledge business,” she said. “We’re working with technology, we’re working with information that changes all the time, and so that is one of the strengths and skills we bring to the table. We have the longevity of being in this business which means we’re totally entrenched with how things are changing.”

These days, customers are interested in password protected programs on their web sites, as well as creating mobile applications and social media marketing. Several clients are also asking for web applications that can allow access to spreadsheet information online.

“We try to use the appropriate tools that are going to give the web site the (longevity), make it as flexible as possible and allow for integration and updates as needed,” Ms. Osako said.
